God Manifested in the Church Meetings

God created man in His image so that man, after receiving the divine life, could express God. This is God’s desire.

God desires a corporate expression. New Jerusalem, not a huge number of individuals, is His single expression in eternity. In the church age He desires to be expressed by many churches, separated by New Jerusalemtime and space but identical in His life
and in their manifestation of Him.

First Corinthians 14 speaks about proper church meetings. In such meetings “all” are active participants and “each one” has something from the Lord to share (v. 24, 26, 31). (A proper meeting is not a passive congregation listening to a choir and pastor.)

In such a Christian gathering, “each one has” because each one is pursuing the Lord. Each one is reading the Bible, considering what was read, praying, singing, giving thanks to God, praising Him. This kind of daily life corresponds to 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “always rejoice, unceasingly pray, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

First Corinthians 14 tells us that if an unbeliever or new person comes to such a meeting “falling on his face, he will worship God, declaring that indeed God is among you.” This is the person’s response to the expression of God by the functioning of many members together.

Since God can be manifested today in a gathering of Christians, how much more will He be manifested in New Jerusalem in the wonderful atmosphere of the new creation!
