Our Hope and the Coming Glory (2)

“We were saved in hope” (Rom. 8:24). One aspect of our hope is the hope of glory. We hope for the Lorrd’s second coming in glory, for the glorious transfiguration of our mortal body, and for the glory of New Jerusalem.

Ephesians 1 speaks of this hope of glory. Verse 12: “That we would be to the praise of His glory who have first hoped in Christ.” We, the Christians, have first hoped and believed in Christ in this age. The Jews will believe later, at His return (Rev. 1:7; Zech. 12:10-12).

New JerusalemWe will be to the praise of His glory. All the praise is to Him, not to us. God created man in His image so that man could express God. This is fulfilled in the statement in Ephesians 1:12 and even more in New Jerusalem.

In Ephesians 1:18 Paul prayed for “The eyes of your heart having been enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of His calling, and what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.”

We need a heavenly revelation of our hope, because our hope is for heavenly things, not for earthly riches or honor. We also need revelation of the riches of Christ in us that will be expressed with His glory. These riches in us become God’s inheritance!

Our heavenly hope is now and the glory is coming for praise to God at Christ’s return and further unto New Jerusalem.
