About

I am a resident of Southern California. While growing up I attended church because of my parents and later to be with my friends. I was taught to be good and to help people but by my senior year in high school a close friend was clearly a better student and also kinder to other people. Yet, he was an agnostic; this left me questioning the meaning of being a Christian since he was living a better human life than I was. In college I wondered about the cycle of human life (birth, growth, school, job, marriage – then another generation starts the same cycle) and whether it had a goal.

I studied engineering at UCLA. When I was in graduate school there I met a group of Christians who spoke about God’s purpose. Some of what they emphasized was man created in God’s image (Gen. 1:26) and man placed in front of the tree of life (Gen. 2:8-9) to receive God as his life and thereby be able to express God through humanity. Although man fell into sin and death, God came in the man Jesus to die for man’s redemption, solving all the problems between man and God. After death Jesus rose to impart life into (to regenerate) all who believe into Him, that is, all who receive Him. By this redemption and regeneration, God can carry out His original desire to live in and be expressed through man.

I have been an active Christian since graduate school, a life that also included a career as an engineer, and being a husband, father, and grandfather. At present, I read the Bible and Christian books, meet with other Christians from home to home, am involved in other Christian activities, and do some hiking in local hills.

About This Blog

There are many points of correspondence between the statement of God’s purpose in Genesis 1–2 and the consummation of God’s revelation in Revelation 21–22. The tree of life and the river of life are both in these two portions of God’s word. These two portions of the Bible also have gold, precious stones, and a husband and wife.

This blog focuses on the bride, the holy city, the New Jerusalem, as revealed in Revelation 21–22. The blog began by focusing on New Testament verses related to Revelation 21–22. Later I went into the parallels between these two chapters and verses in the Old Testament. Now I am looking at specific topics through the New Testament or through the Bible to their consummation in New Jerusalem.

    • Justin, thanks for visiting. While you read, concentrate on the verses and pray for the Lord to enlighten you. What He says is much, much more important than what I say.

  10. Great blog, Don. All the articles I’ve read are very illuminating, and all of the post titles look fascinating. For 2000 years these things have not been so clear. By considering the world situation, it seems like we are at the end of the age. The angel told Daniel that the meaning of some of the things he saw would be shut up and sealed until the time of the end; maybe it’s like that with New Jerusalem. Anyway, thanks for opening these things up.

  12. Thank you Don for your visit and kind comment, It’s very uplifting to see so many Christians online while churches in the west are closing down, the Lord is still on his throne and He has all things under control. God bless you, my new brother in Christ Jesus 🙂

    • Yes, He is still on the throne. We can’t always see His purpose in the world events but we know He is King of kings. Eventually we will see how He worked everything for His purpose.
